I swear I’m not the kind of guy who would have a website with his name as the URL, a picture of him climbing as the header, followed immediately by a black-and-white portrait, and concluding with a long humblebrag about all the great things he’s done. Honestly, I’m not.

And yet, here we are…

So what do I actually want to say?

  1. I’m the luckiest guy in the world. I have been surrounded my whole life by loving family and friends. I’ve had incredible dogs. I’ve gotten to travel, spend an inordinate amount of time fondling rocks, and see some exceptionally wild places. I had the gift of a good education, parents who kindled my love of reading and writing, and a bit of success as a writer. All of my faults are my own, and all of my successes I owe to someone or something else.

  2. I love to write. Fiction, non, short, long, poems, prose—I love it all. I love writing, and reading, and books, and people who write books, and people who read books. If you’re here because you read something I wrote, thank you. Reading something someone wrote is a great gift to that person. We spend too much time thanking authors. We ought to spend more time thanking readers.

  3. If you’re here to buy a copy of Dammed If You Don’t, shoot me an email. The book costs $25 + $5 shipping, but if you’re tight on cash, send me a message anyway and we’ll work something out.

  4. I love the Cochamó Valley in Chilean Patagonia. If you’re here to learn more about it—or to help protect it—check out Conserva Puchegüín, and follow your nose from there. If you have specific questions, shoot me an email, and I’ll try to answer them as best I can.

I think that about wraps it up. Thanks again for visiting, and have a great day. And again, if you have any questions, well, you know what to do…
